A FRENCH BRIQUET SABRE WITH BLUED AND GILT BLADE, 19TH CEN. - A French sabre with a gilt-brass hilt and a blade which has been blued along almost half of its length, the end of the bluing finishing in a swirling foliate motif. There are multiple gilt medallions with martial themes at the forte. The piece is kept within a scabbard of black leather with brass mounts. France, 19th Century. Original bluing us mostly present as is the gilt decoration at the forte. Grip leather has dried and worn away at front. Scabbard in good condition overall.
