A MALTESE CEREMONIAL SWORD WITH SHEATH, 1860/80 - A Maltese ceremonial officer’s sword, dating to circa 1860–1880, likely made for a high-ranking official or naval officer, possibly associated with British governance in Malta or Maltese honorary institutions continuing the chivalric symbolism of the Order. The lack of overt Christian iconography (e.g., Christograms, cruciform blades) makes it less likely to be for a knight of a Catholic religious order, but more likely a ceremonial or diplomatic Maltese sword.
