A NAPOLEONIC-ERA FRENCH OFFICER’S SMALLSWORD, FIRST EMPIRE CA. 1795–1815 - A Napoleonic-era French officer’s smallsword with the blade decoarted with bluing and gilded etching in panels: features classical trophies of arms, laurel wreaths, helmets, and other martial symbols. Gilded bronze guard with neoclassical motifs. Finely turned wire-wrapped grip (silver wire over wood). Faceted urn-shaped pommel with ball finial a hallmark of First Empire elegance. Knuckle bow engraved with decorative elements typical of the Napoleonic style. Consulate to First Empire period (circa 1795–1815). Please make all inquiries before bidding.
