A GARDE DUCORPS SWORD, KINGDOM OF THE TWO SICILIES, 1820 - A Naples Garde du Corps officer’s sword circa 1820, which would have belonged to the elite royal bodyguard of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies during the Bourbon restoration. Swords issued or worn by its officers were often of very high craftsmanship and occasionally imported or inspired by French styles. Condition: The blade is structurally intact, shows light oxidation, and surface patina consistent with age. The scabbard is complete, with both suspension rings present. The steel surface exhibits uniform age-related tarnishing and light pitting, but no major deformation or corrosion breakthroughs. The hilt and guard are of brass components (including the knuckle bow and pommel) that exhibit tarnish and minor surface wear, but details remain sharp and intact.
