Item Overview
Description:
A richly colored still life composition depicting a vase of freshly cut roses and garden flowers arranged in a blue-and-white porcelain vase, set on a red cloth-draped table with a golden doily, against the backdrop of an ornately carved wooden chair and a green wall. Sparrow’s bold palette and strong contrasts reflect his interest in Post-Impressionist still life traditions, while the controlled composition shows an intimacy with domestic interior scenes.
Jack Sparrow was a British painter active in the first half of the 20th century, known for landscapes, interiors, and still lifes in an expressive yet structured style. His works were exhibited in the Royal Academy and regional British exhibitions during the interwar and postwar periods.
