A FRITZ DILLER (1875-1946) SIGNED BRONZE OF A GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG, 19TH/20TH CEN. - An animalier bronze of a German Shepherd dog, sculpted by German artist Fritz Diller (1875-1946), the foremost German sculptor of dogs in his day. He was such a lover of dogs that he often acted as a judge at pedigree dog shows and maintained contacts in the dog breeders' association. An avid hunter, he also composed many bronzes depicting the wild animals he would see while on the hunt. The piece is signed 'F Diller' on the base. Germany, Late 19th or Early 20th Century.
