The composition depicts a white and black dog, likely a terrier or bull breed, standing alert within a rustic stable interior. The animal wears a black collar with an oval brass tag. The background features wooden planks, straw, and a stable broom, emphasizing the everyday rural setting. Surface with minor abrasions and scattered small losses, particularly in the darker background areas. Varnish has discolored with time, presenting an overall warm tonality. Frame with wear, rubbing, and old repairs, but structurally stable. Canvas appears to be relined to panel/board backing in the past. Presents well overall, retaining strong color and detail in the dog’s depiction.
