A GLASS AND GILT-BRONZE MONTEITH BOWL, 19TH CENTURY - Of circular form, the deep cut crystal bowl with a castellated rim and diamond-cut body, mounted within a pierced gilt-bronze gallery. Supported on a tripod stand with eagle-head uprights joined by a central ring stretcher, the out-swept legs terminating in paw feet holding a ball. The eagle-head supports and paw feet are classic motifs of Empire and Neoclassical French ormolu. They echo designs by Parisian bronziers supplying mounts for Sèvres, Baccarat, and luxury retailers. Condition: The crystal has minor surface wear and a few tiny rim fleabites consistent with age and use.
