LOREENE HENRY (CANADIAN, SIX NATIONS), A CARVED STONE SCULPTURE, 1998 - Carved serpentine stone, depicting a stylized portrait of a woman with flowing hair and a multi-strand necklace merging with the form of an eagle above, the stone showing natural variegations of green, ochre, and cream. The underside is inscribed: ”Loreene Henry / Six Nations / Ontario / Canada / 1998.” Henry, a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) artist from Six Nations of the Grand River, is noted for sculptural works integrating Native identity, cosmological symbols, and traditional stories into modern form. The eagle, a sacred symbol of strength and vision, emerges protectively above the woman’s face, embodying continuity between spirit and human. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
