A PAIR OF FRENCH GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE THREE-LIGHT CANDELABRA WITH PUTTI - Cast by Chibrault Frères, Fondeurs de Cire Perdue, Paris, late 19th century. Each candelabrum is finely modeled with a patinated bronze putto figure, one seated on a rocky base holding an attribute, the other in a lively stance with arms extended. The figures are enveloped by elaborate scrolling acanthus branches issuing three foliate arms, each supporting a gilt-bronze nozzle and drip pan. The sculptural mounts display crisp chasing, burnished highlights, and contrasting matte surfaces, demonstrating the refined cire perdue casting techniques for which the Parisian foundry was renowned. Each is raised on a circular black marble plinth with gilt-bronze mounts. Both candelabra bear the incised signature ”Chibrault Frères, Fondeurs de Cire Perdue, Paris.” Note: Chibrault Frères, active in Paris during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, were among the select ateliers specializing in cire perdue (lost-wax) bronze casting, supplying high-quality decorative bronzes and sculptural editions for sculptors and luxury retailers. Condition: Both figures retain a good dark brown patina with minor rubbing and light handling wear consistent with age. The gilt-bronze mounts are intact, showing light surface wear, occasional rubbing to high points, and slight toning from age. Each base is stable, with minor edge nicks and light scratches commensurate with age and use.
