South American Landscape with Thatched Hut and Mountains, 1914 Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right ”Ramos Catalán 14” A vibrant early 20th-century South American landscape by Benito Ramos Catalán, depicting a rustic thatched hut nestled at the foot of towering mountains beneath a luminous sky. Two tall eucalyptus trees dominate the composition, casting rich shadows over the earthen path leading toward the dwelling. A terracotta vessel outside the hut reinforces the regional character. Executed in bold, impressionistic brushwork with a warm palette of ochres, greens, and soft blues, the painting captures the tranquil harmony of rural Chilean life.
