Item Overview
Description:
A finely made Imperial Russian Order of St. Anna, 2nd Class, Military Division, with crossed swords. Gilt bronze and silver-gilt with translucent red enamel over guilloché ground. Obverse medallion with hand-painted miniature of St. Anna. The reverse medallion with a crowned blue cipher "AA" on white ground.
The Award Citation (Gramota): a large-format parchment-style paper with printed heading: "Emperor of All Russia, and so forth, and so forth, and so forth." Issued to Ober-Lieutenant Zherebtsov, of the Life Guards Grand Duke Moscow Regiment (Полк Велико-Княжеской Московской службы). Conferring upon him the dignity of Cavalier of the Order of St. Anna, 2nd Class, with swords.
Dated 27 January 1846, signed and countersigned by officials of the Chancellery of Imperial Orders. Bearing the original embossed wax-paper seal of the Order’s Chapter.
