A BADGE ”TO THE SHOCK WORKER OF STALIN'S CALL-UP”. USSR, 1949–1957 - Instituted on April 28, 1934, by the People’s Commissariat of Railways (NKPS) to reward outstanding workers recruited under the ”Stalinist Call-Up” program for the rail industry. Produced at the NKPS Stamping & Mechanical Plant, Moscow, 1949–1957. Designed by artists Vsevolod Osipovich Elsky (1890–1948) and E. I. Zon. The obverse shows a steam locomotive before a red star, encircled by a sickle motif, with red enamel banners inscribed ”Udarniku” (”To the Shock Worker”) and ”Stalinskogo Prizyva”. Material: Steel, enamel. Weight: 5.8 g. Dimensions: 34.5 × 31.3 mm. Fastening: Screwback, nut inscribed ”Art. Borets, Moscow” (later replacement). References: Zak A. S., Kalistratov I.
