MOURNING BADGE WITH THE IMAGE OF V.I. LENIN (1870–1924), SILVER. LENINGRAD, 1924 - A commemorative mourning badge issued after the death of Lenin in 1924. Designed as a red enameled flag with radiating rays, bearing a high-relief silver portrait of Lenin at left, and the dates 1870 – 1924 at the base with a central star. The portrait is attributed to the engraver D.I., whose initials appear on the lapel. Reverse with original horizontal pinback and catching hook. Material: Silver, enamel. Weight: 11.41 g. Dimensions: 33.87 × 31.04 mm. Produced in Leningrad, workshop unknown. This high-quality silver and enamel mourning badge is a scarce example among early posthumous Lenin commemorative issues.
