AN 1817 FRENCH AWARD CITATION, REIGN OF LOUIS XVIII - A highly decorative military brevet (certificate) issued ”Au Nom du Roi” (In the Name of the King) under the Bourbon Restoration in France. Header: ”AU NOM DU ROI”, (”In the Name of the King”). Issuer: Charles-Philippe de France, Comte d’Artois, Colonel Général des Gardes Nationales du Royaume, (later King Charles X of France). Recipient: Monsieur Bleudel, Capitaine (Captain) in the 3rd Company, 2nd Battalion, Legion of Chassereau. Purpose: This certificate appoints Mr. Bleudel to the grade of Knight of the Royal Order of the Legion (Chivalric or National Guard-related distinction, possibly linked with the restructured military honors of the time). Date: Signed in Paris, 2 October 1817. Signatures: Signed by Charles Philippe (as Count of Artois). Additional official countersignatures at the bottom.
