AN 1815 BOURBON RESTORATION DOCUMENT, REIGN OF LOUIS XVIII - An official French royal military brevet (commission certificate), issued during the Bourbon Restoration, under the reign of Louis XVIII, King of France and Navarre. Header: ”Louis, par la grâce de Dieu, Roi de France et de Navarre”, (”Louis, by the grace of God, King of France and Navarre”). Recipient: Joseph Frédéric Rivoire, formerly an infantry officer. He is being appointed to the rank of Chef de Bataillon (Major / Battalion Chief). Date: Donné à Paris, le 22 février 1815, (Given in Paris, 22nd February 1815). Embossed white royal seal with arms of France, black ink seal: ”Maison Royale des Invalides de la Guerre”. Signed ”Par le Roi” (By the King) and Le Ministre Secrétaire d’État de la Guerre (The Secretary of State for War). This certificate was issued just weeks before Napoleon's return from Elba in March 1815, during the fragile rule of Louis XVIII before the Hundred Days. Condition: Creasing/Folding: There are horizontal and vertical folds, as expected in archival documents. Some wear appears along the folds. The text is very clear and well-preserved, with all names, dates, and titles easily readable. Both the embossed royal seal and the ”Hôtel des Invalides” stamp are intact and quite sharp—this adds to its authenticity and value. The signature of the Minister of War and the formal layout are intact.
