AN 1819 FRENCH LEGION OF HONOR CITATION, REIGN OF LOUIS XVIII - An original brevet (citation) appointing a recipient to the rank of Chevalier (Knight) in the Ordre Royal de la Légion d’Honneur, dated 9 October 1819, during the reign of Louis XVIII of France. This elegant document bears the royal arms of France surrounded by laurel and oak branches and the motto “Honneur et Patrie” at top center. Printed and manuscript on heavy cream rag paper, the document features a decorative border formed by a ribbon and medal motif bearing four stars of the order and fleur-de-lis rosettes. Embossed official seal at bottom center. Full printed title: Ordre Royal de la Légion d’Honneur, with official language affirming the recipient’s nomination by royal decree. It is clearly signed by royal and chancellery officials, including Le Grand Chancelier de l’Ordre Royal de la Légion d’Honneur. Series number and date in manuscript upper right.
