A BAVARIAN PICKELHAUBE (SPIKED HELMET), FROM THE IMPERIAL GERMAN PERIOD (1871–1918) - A Bavarian Model Pickelhaube (spiked helmet), from the Imperial German period (1871–1918), represents the Kingdom of Bavaria, indicated by the central coat of arms with blue-and-white lozenges and the motto ”In Treue Fest” (”Firm in Fidelity”). The crest is a crowned Bavarian coat of arms, supported by two lions. Pickelhaube was a standard spiked helmet used by the German states, made of leather with metal fittings. The front plate features the Bavarian pattern (not the Prussian eagle). This was worn by Bavarian military units. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
