А GERMAN CEREMONIAL HELMET, PICKELHAUBE, АN OFFICER’S HELMET FROM THE PRUSSIAN GUARD CUIRASSIERS (GARDE DU CORPS) - A highly decorative gilt-metal (brass) parade helmet of the Prussian Garde du Corps, featuring an imposing silvered Prussian eagle crest. The gilt brass skull is surmounted by a large, finely detailed silvered bronze eagle with outstretched wings, crowned and holding scepter and orb in its beak — the distinctive emblem of the elite Garde du Corps cavalry regiment. The front bears a silvered starburst plate centered with the motto ”MIT GOTT FÜR KOENIG UND VATERLAND” (With God for King and Fatherland), surrounding the black Prussian eagle. The sides are mounted with national and Prussian cockades beneath applied gilt metal chin scales terminating in circular rosettes. The rear shows the characteristic extended lobster-tail neck guard, polished to match the rest of the body. The Garde du Corps regiment was the personal bodyguard cavalry of the Prussian kings and German emperors, and its helmets are among the most impressive and iconic of Imperial German military headgear. This example is a parade version (as indicated by the eagle crest), used for ceremonial purposes rather than battlefield service. Please make all inquiries before bidding. Some areas show small dings, faint scuffs, or handling marks, particularly near the edges and curves. No visible cracks or splits.
