A RUSSIAN KHLEBNIKOV SILVER AND ENAMEL TEAGLASS HOLDER, 1877 - Firm of Ivan Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1877. Of cylindrical form on a circular base, the body is richly decorated with intricate Neo-Russian geometric and foliate cloisonné enamel designs in shades of turquoise, green, cobalt blue, red, and white on a gilded stippled ground. The lower border features a scrolling floral frieze of cream and turquoise blossoms, while the upper rim is edged with a zig-zag blue band. The angular handle is hand-chased and faceted with turned knop terminals, typical of Khlebnikov’s masterful metalwork. Marks: on base, with Cyrillic maker’s mark ХЛЕБНИКОВЪ beneath the Imperial warrant (the double-headed eagle), 84 silver standard with Moscow city mark and assayer’s initials I.K., dated 1877.
