A RUSSIAN SILVER GLASSHOLDER, MOSCOW, CIRCA 1890–1908 - Of cylindrical form with an openwork foliate and geometric upper border, the body finely engraved with stylized Neoclassical ornament including ribbons, laurel garlands, and rosettes, the base with a beaded edge and molded foot. The angular handle of a faceted section with a pierced thumbrest. An engraved Cyrillic presentation inscription reads: ”Дорогому Мише к 11-ой годовщине свадьбы от жены и детей. 1/VII 30”. (To our dear Misha, on the 11th wedding anniversary, from wife and children. July 1, 1930.) indicating later commemorative use during the early Soviet period. Hallmarks: on base with maker’s initials ”Л.Б.” in Cyrillic (unidentified Moscow silversmith, active late 19th–early 20th century) and 84 zolotniks silver standard. Weight: 6.7 oz., (188 g.)
