A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER SUGAR BOWL WITH A BONE KNOB, 1862 - A finely crafted sugar bowl produced in Moscow in 1862. The body of the bowl is of an octagonal form with guilloched patterning on each of its sides, the center facets also being emblazoned with a blank armorial shield. Two curled handles project from the top of the body, reattaching toward the bottom. The lid is of a domed form, guilloched similarly to the body, affixed with a lathe-turned bone knob which acts as a handle. Moscow, Imperial Russia, 1862. Hallmarks: 'VS' assayer's mark, 1862 date mark, 84 silver proof, St George Moscow mark, 'PITS' cyrillic mark, 'CR' cyrillic mark. Weight: 4.35 oz., (123.3 g.)
