A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER BASKET - An elegant parcel-gilt silver basket of lobed oval form, the body finely chased with scalloped panels, supported on a molded pedestal foot. The hinged handle rises gracefully above the bowl, its surface delicately engraved and gilt to the interior. The exterior bears a finely executed engraved monogram. The basket exhibits the refined craftsmanship characteristic of mid 19th century Moscow silverwork. Hallmarks: ”AK” Cyrillic assayer’s mark; ”GM” Cyrillic maker’s mark; St. George Moscow city mark; 84 silver proof. Weight: 19.8 oz. (561.3 g.) Please make all inquiries before bidding.
