A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER AND NIELLO SPOON, 1894 - The interior of the bowl finely engraved and niello decorated with an architectural view beneath a stylized foliate medallion; the plain reverse parcel-gilt; the faceted handle tapering to a baluster finial. The design reflects the late Imperial taste for detailed cityscapes and niello craftsmanship. Hallmarks: Cyrillic maker’s mark ”IJ”, assayer’s mark ”AA”, 1894 date mark, 84 silver standard, St. George slaying the dragon Moscow town mark, Kokoshnik woman’s head mark, and later Soviet 875 silver proof and ”МЮЗ-0” (Moscow Jewelry Factory) mark.
