A TUSCAN MANNERIST PAINTER, EARLY 17TH CENTURY MADONNA AND CHILD, OIL ON CANVAS - A graceful and intimate depiction of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, characteristic of early 17th-century Tuscan Mannerism. The Virgin, dressed in a red and blue robe and delicate veil, tenderly supports the Child on a white drapery, their heads gently inclined toward one another in a serene triangular composition. The tender gaze and the elegant elongation of the hands and fingers are typical of post-Late Renaissance devotional painting, influenced by the Florentine tradition of Francesco Curradi (1570–1661) and Cesare Dandini (1596–1657). The warm tonal range, precise modeling, and subtle chiaroscuro exemplify the transitional period between Mannerism and early Baroque sentiment in Tuscany.
