AN ITALIAN SCHOOL OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING BY A FOLLOWER OF FRANCESCO ALBANI, C. 1700 - North Italian school, follower of Francesco Albani (17 March or 17 August 1578 – 4 October 1660), oil on canvas painting, Diana's Nymphs Disarming Sleeping Cupids, circa 1700. Albani shows Diana's nymphs stealing the weapons of sleeping cupids. The mythological scene is an allegory for the triumph of chastity over sensual or profane love.
