AN OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING ”CHRIST IN THE HOUSE OF MARY AND MARTHA” BY A FOLLOWER OF JACOPO BASSANO - An oil on canvas painting, 'Christ in the House of Mary and Martha, ' by a follower of Jacopo Bassano (c. 1510 – 14 February 1592), known also as Jacopo dal Ponte. Jacopo Bassano was an Italian painter who was born and died in Bassano del Grappa near Venice, and took the village as his surname. Bassano transformed the religious narrative into a lively genre scene, depicting Jesus and his disciples being welcomed into a domestic setting, with Mary and Martha bustling about.
