A JACOB DUCK, NETHERLANDS, SIGNED OIL ON BOARD PAINTING, 17TH CEN. - Jacob Duck (Netherlands, 1600 - 1667), an oil on oak panel, Boy at the Armory. Signed lower right. Housed in an antique frame. Label on the back from the Alfred Brod Gallery, London; Private collection, Belgium. Note: Jacob Duck was a Dutch painter and engraver, probably born in Utrecht. He initially trained as a goldsmith, a profession he acquired in 1619. From 1621, he took drawing lessons from Joost Cornelisz Droochsloot. Active in Utrecht but also in Haarlem and The Hague, Duck painted soldiers, figures, and scenes of daily life. His works can be found in important museums, including the Hermitage.
