A HENRI-LOUIS BOUCHARD (FRENCH, 1875–1960), ”VICTOIRE DE BOGOTA”/”VICTORY OF BOGOTÁ” - Cast bronze with golden-brown patina, mounted on a square base. Signed and foundry mark CIRE PERDUE SIOT-DECAUVILLE PARIS. Circa 1925. A striking Art Deco bronze figure of Victory by Henri-Louis Bouchard, depicting a winged female figure balancing gracefully atop a sphere. Her flowing drapery and dynamic wings evoke classical allegories of triumph, rendered with the stylized poise and rhythmic elegance typical of the interwar period. The sculpture demonstrates Bouchard’s mastery of proportion and movement, seamlessly blending Neoclassical inspiration with the refined surfaces and idealized forms that define French Art Deco bronze. Cast by the renowned Parisian foundry Siot-Decauville, known for its superb cire perdue (lost wax) bronzes. Footnotes: Henri-Louis Bouchard, a student of Jules Coutan and Louis-Ernest Barrias, exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and received numerous public commissions. His works, often monumental in scale, celebrated heroism, labor, and allegory, making him one of the significant sculptors bridging late academicism and Art Deco stylization.
