A MARCEL BOURAINE (FRENCH, 1886–1948), ART DECO DANCER WITH COMEDY AND TRAGEDY MASKS - Signed ”Matto”, cast by Marcel Guillmard foundry, numbered 25. Gilt and silvered bronze on a stepped black marble base. Circa 1925–1930. A graceful Art Deco bronze figure of a dancer holding the masks of Comedy and Tragedy, symbolizing the theatrical arts. The figure’s elegant pose, with outstretched arms and fluid motion, embodies the spirit of the Jazz Age, while the subtle dual patina highlights the sculptural rhythm and sensuality characteristic of Marcel Bouraine’s celebrated works. The composition, marked by its elongated proportions and lightness, reflects the aesthetic ideals of Parisian Art Deco, harmonizing classical beauty with modern dynamism.
