AMERICAN ART DECO CARVED EBONIZED WOOD HEAD BUST OF A YOUNG BOY, CA. 1940S - American Art Deco style sculpture, hand-carved ebonized wood head of a young boy, dated as circa 1940s. Standing on a cube base and sustained by a metal bar keeping the figure suspended over its pedestal. Anonymous artwork without signature. A realistic portrait of a kid with anatomical accurate depiction of facial features. Intense psychological lecture of childhood reinforced by the execution of the figure in two noticeable parts: face with smooth surface finish, rest of the head including ears in a textured near to raw finish of the surface. A composition trick that allows the portrait to accentuate the emotional narrative perceived trough the gaze of the child.
