A CONTINENTAL SCHOOL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY ”BATHER AT THE WATER’S EDGE” - Depicting a nude young woman standing at the edge of a still lake, turning in profile toward the right. The composition is rendered with delicate tonal transitions and atmospheric light, the figure set against mist-shrouded mountains and a reflective surface of water, creating a dreamlike and ethereal mood. The treatment of the female form reflects the academic tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, reminiscent of Symbolist and Romantic figural studies.
