A BRONZE FIGURE OF THE 'CINGHIALE' (WILD BOAR), ITALIAN, 19TH CENTURY - Depicting a recumbent wild boar with a finely detailed bristling coat, open mouth, and alert expression, set upon a rectangular white marble base. The model derives from the celebrated Hellenistic marble Cinghiale (The Uffizi Boar), discovered in Rome in the 16th century and long admired as a symbol of ferocity and vitality, later influencing the famous bronze Porcellino fountain in Florence.
