AN OTTOMAN SILVER-MOUNTED HAND MIRROR, 19TH CENTURY - Of circular form, the reverse is richly decorated in repoussé and chased silver with radiating foliate and rosette motifs, further embellished with applied bosses and a central turquoise cabochon. The short handle is engraved with geometric and floral designs, hung with small silver bells, and attached to a long double-link chain. Ottoman mirrors of this type, often suspended from the belt or worn as part of bridal dowries, served both as personal grooming items and as symbolic ornaments.
