A HIGH-QUALITY FACSIMILE PRINT AFTER PETER PAUL RUBENS, STUDY OF A CHILD, 20TH CENTURY - A finely produced facsimile print reproducing a celebrated sketch by Peter Paul Rubens depicting the head of a young child shown in three-quarter profile with downcast eyes and softly modeled features. The image captures Rubens’ hallmark sensitivity to flesh tones and youthful expression with delicate transitions of light and shadow and fluent linear articulation of the hair. The child wears a simple beaded necklace and is set against a warm neutral ground characteristic of Rubens’ preparatory portrait studies. The facsimile faithfully reproduces the tonal subtleties and coloration of the original drawing. Signed in the plate at the lower right with initials corresponding to the original. The print is presented in a molded gilt wood frame with a wide cream mat. The reverse retains a modern backing board with manufacturer and distribution labels indicating authorized decorative reproduction. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
