A SIGNED CHINESE SILK PAINTING DEPICTING A BODHISATTVA (GUANYIN) - Ink and light color on silk, depicting a seated bodhisattva, most likely Guanyin, shown frontally upon a carved lotus pedestal, backed by a stylized mandorla. The composition is rendered in a subdued, monochromatic palette with deliberately aged tonality, the silk ground exhibiting pronounced craquelure-like staining and mottling, likely intentional to evoke antiquity. The lower register includes relief-like decorative motifs suggestive of clouds or auspicious symbols. The painting is signed in red at lower right with an artist’s signature in Chinese characters accompanied by a square red seal stamp, consistent with 20th-century studio practice rather than earlier literati conventions. Mounted within a substantial molded and gilded frame with black and gold borders.
