MARCHAL”, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - A finely executed French street scene depicting a narrow old-town thoroughfare with timber-framed architecture and figures engaged in daily activity, rendered in a subdued tonal palette suggestive of early 20th-century atmospheric realism. The composition emphasizes vertical perspective and architectural rhythm, with careful attention to light, shadow, and surface texture. Signed in pencil lower right ”S. Marchal”. The work appears to be a watercolor or color lithograph on paper, presented behind glass in a period molded frame with gilt liner.
