A JUDAICA ETCHING THE SACRIFICE AT THE TEMPLE, NETHERLANDS, LATE 17TH TO EARLY 18TH CENTURY - Engraving on laid paper depicting a biblical sacrificial scene from Leviticus VIII, illustrating Moses consecrating Aaron and his sons with offerings at the Temple. The composition shows a central priestly figure officiating at the altar, surrounded by attendants, sacrificial animals, and onlookers rendered with strong Baroque chiaroscuro and fine linear detail. The plate bears inscriptions in Hebrew, Latin, French, German, and Dutch beneath the image, indicating its didactic and devotional purpose. The lower margin is inscribed “G. Hoet del.” and “A. de Blois sculp.”, after a composition by Gerard Hoet the Elder (1648–1733), engraved by Abraham de Blois. Presented in a later molded frame with mat. Condition: Generally good condition with even plate tone and clear impression. Minor foxing and light staining to the margins, most visible in the mat area. The backing paper is later and torn. The frame shows wear consistent with age.
