AN OIL ON BOARD DUTCH CITY VIEW, DUTCH SCHOOL, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - Oil on board depicting a sunlit Dutch street scene with stepped gable houses, cobblestone paving and figures in period dress animated across the foreground, the composition centered on a church tower rising beyond the street and rendered in a lively impressionistic manner with loose confident brushwork and a warm palette of ochres brick reds and soft blues, signed at the lower left G. Alexander, consistent with early 20th century Dutch or Northern European decorative city views intended for domestic display and the tourist and export market.
