A MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A ROCOCO LADY, CONTINENTAL SCHOOL, LATE 19TH CENTURY - Hand-painted miniature portrait on porcelain depicting an elegant young woman in Rococo dress seated beside an architectural element, her powdered hair elaborately dressed with feathers and ribbons and her costume rendered in soft pastel pinks and blues with lace detailing, the composition inspired by 18th century French court portraiture and executed with fine brushwork and delicate modeling of the face and hands, signed to the lower right, consistent with late 19th century Continental revival miniatures produced after Rococo prototypes for decorative and collector use. Set within an oval gilt metal frame with applied floral and foliate ornament and pierced crest, the reverse fitted with a glazed back and suspension loop. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
