Bidspirit auction | AN ACRYLIC ON BOARD TIGER

AN ACRYLIC ON BOARD TIGER PORTRAIT, SIGNED G. KING, LATE 20TH CENTURY - A bold and expressive acrylic painting on board depicting the head of a tiger shown in close-up against a loosely rendered green ground. The composition focuses on the animal’s intense gaze and facial structure with the head turned slightly in three-quarter view. Executed with energetic and confident brushwork the artist emphasizes the texture of the fur through layered strokes of black white ochre and warm brown contrasted against the saturated background. The handling combines elements of wildlife realism with a more painterly and expressive approach particularly evident in the mane and facial markings. Signed to the lower left, G. King. The work is presented unframed. The reverse shows the original board support with scattered surface abrasions and paint transfer consistent with studio handling and age.
