Bidspirit auction | A MURANO MILLEFIORI GLASS VASE

A MURANO MILLEFIORI GLASS VASE WITH APPLIED HANDLES, ITALY, MID 20TH CENTURY - Of baluster form with a slightly flared neck and circular foot, this piece is executed in opaque green glass densely decorated with millefiori canes arranged in a repeating floral pattern, incorporating white, yellow, brown, and translucent elements. The body is further enriched with vertically drawn cane work that elongates the floral motifs toward the foot and neck, creating a continuous flowing surface. The vase is fitted with a pair of symmetrically applied looped handles in matching green glass, each handle elegantly pulled and curled in the Murano tradition. The underside shows a ground pontil scar, confirming that it was made by free-blown manufacture. The overall effect reflects the revival and reinterpretation of classic millefiori techniques by Murano glassmakers in the mid-20th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
