A RUSSIAN ENAMEL-PAINTED GLASS BEAKER WITH INSCRIPTION ”HAPPY NAME DAY”, RUSSIA, 19TH CENTURY - The clear glass beaker of cylindrical form is finely decorated in opaque white enamel with a continuous pastoral scene depicting a young girl in contemporary dress skipping among flowering plants while flying a kite. The figural motif is rendered in a naive yet charming manner characteristic of Russian folk-influenced decorative glass of the 19th century, with delicately applied floral sprays and stylized ground elements encircling the vessel. A scalloped white enamel frieze with raised dot accents runs around the lower register, providing visual balance to the composition. The reverse bears a hand-painted Cyrillic dedication in blue enamel reading ”С ДНЕМ АНГЕЛА”, meaning ”Happy Name Day”, indicating the beaker was intended as a personal celebratory or gift object.
