A RUSSIAN SILVER AND CLOISONNE ENAMEL LIGHTER CASE, 1900 - Rectangular hinged lighter case of silver, the exterior fully decorated with finely executed cloisonné enamel on a dark ground. The front and back panels are centered by a stylized floral rosette composed of turquoise-blue, cobalt-blue, white, green, and red enamels, surrounded by scrolling foliate ornament. The borders are enriched with a continuous dotted white enamel motif, while the sides display scrolling enamel bands in a matching palette. The hinged lid conforms in decoration and is fitted with a flush hinge at the rear. The interior is plain silver with traces of fire-gilding and wear consistent with use as a lighter case.
