A GILT-SILVER AND NIELLO SNUFF BOX, THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY - Rectangular snuff box with rounded corners, the exterior decorated overall in finely executed niello on a deep blue-black ground, forming a dense geometric diaper pattern across the lid, sides, and base. The lid centered by an oval reserve engraved with a crowned interlaced monogram, likely A W, within a stylized cartouche. Hinged lid opening to a fully gilt interior. The interior further engraved Wien Octbr. 1877, a presentation in Vienna during the late 19th century. Hallmarks: 'M&S', Dianakopf .900 mark. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
