A WIENER WERKSTATTE HAGENAUER ART DECO PEGASUS SCULPTURE, VIENNA, CIRCA 1925–1935 - A sculptural Art Deco figure of Pegasus shown rearing upon stylized clouds, modeled in a highly streamlined and modernist idiom characteristic of the Wiener Werkstatte Hagenauer workshop. The Pegasus is cast in metal with a silvered or nickel-plated finish, with engraved wing feathers and crisply defined anatomical forms, raised on a black-painted square wooden plinth with metal base trim. The reverse of the metal underside bears a stamped Hagenauer Werkstatte mark within a diamond, together with workshop scribal marks, consistent with Hagenauer production of the interwar period. This model reflects the workshop’s synthesis of classical imagery with modernist abstraction, comparable to documented Hagenauer figural animal sculptures produced in Vienna during the late 1920s and early 1930s.
