A CHINESE EXPORT PURE SILVER ART NOUVEAU VASE, MARK OF CHUANFENG (川峯製), REPUBLIC PERIOD, CA. 1920–1940. - A finely crafted pure silver vase of elegant baluster form on a broad circular spreading foot, decorated in the refined Chinese Export Art Nouveau manner. The body is embellished with a continuous band of elongated leaf-shaped panels, each filled with intricate swirling tendril motifs and small applied gilt beads, all executed with precision hand-engraving. The upper neck is bordered by a frieze of scalloped elements punctuated by round gilt accents, forming a delicate transition between the rim and the decorated field below. The underside is stamped with Chinese characters 「純銀」 (”pure silver”) and 「川峯製」 (”made by Chuanfeng”), identifying the maker as the Chuanfeng workshop, active during the Republic period and known for producing high-quality export silver in both Western and hybrid styles. The vase represents the transition between late Art Nouveau and early Art Deco sensibilities seen in Chinese silverwork of the 1920s–1940s, combining Western decorative vocabulary with distinctly Chinese craftsmanship.
