A PAUL PHILIPPE (1870-1930) SIGNED FRENCH GILT BRONZE FEMALE NUDE 'IRONY', C. 1925 - A sculpture entitled 'Irony' from the important French sculptor Paul Philippe (1870-1930). The statuette depicts a nude woman with her hair stylishly arranged and tied with a ribbon, her arms crossed, and her face bearing a playful expression. The piece is set atop a uniquely shaped marble plinth and signed on the same. Philippe's works have become well known throughout the world, with much of his corpus being exhibited at the Art Deco Museum in Moscow, Russia. Paris, France, c. 1925.
