A CAST-BRONZE INDIAN ELEPHANT SET WITH CORALS AND TURQUOISE, 19TH CENTURY - Cast in the round and modeled standing four-square with raised trunk, the body fitted with an elaborate repoussé-decorated saddle cloth and howdah formed with scrolling vegetal motifs. The surface extensively embellished with cabochon-set red corals and turquoise stones arranged in floral and geometric patterns across the head caparison, saddle blanket, and rear housing. The bronze displaying a deep, dark brown patina with areas of wear consistent with age and handling. The underside with a flat base allowing stable display. The overall composition reflects late 19th-century Indian decorative bronze work intended for export or courtly interiors, combining sculptural modeling with jeweled ornamentation.
