A PATINATED BRONZE OF A RELIGIOUS FIGURE, CONTINENTAL, LATE 19TH–EARLY 20TH CENTURY - A cast and patinated bronze figure depicting a robed religious personage, likely a monk, hermit, or saint, shown standing in a contemplative pose with one hand lifted to the chest and the other resting at his side. The figure is rendered with a deeply modeled face beneath a hood, and the draped garment is treated with expressive folds and textured surfaces. Condition: Dark brown to black patina with areas of lighter bronze highlights, typical of Continental devotional or Symbolist bronzes of the late 19th century. The sculpture shows good detail in the drapery and anatomical modeling.
